Nordisk Panorama has announced its 2026 selection for the Forum and Market, drawing 52 documentary projects from more than 130 submissions. The line-up spans the Forum Pitch, Observer+, and Work In Progress strands, gathering established Nordic names alongside a newer generation.

Michael Madsen returns with a new project, The Ark. His 2010 film Into Eternity was pitched at Nordisk Panorama back in 2007. Max Kestner follows up his 2024 title Life and Other Problems with Living in the Shadow of the World We Could Have, and Phie Ambo reunites with Rikke Tambo Andersen on the climate film Caretaker, continuing from their earlier Fire, Water, Earth, Air.

Producer names include past Nordic Documentary Producer Award winners Stina Gardell and Hanna Björk Valsdóttir, alongside Signe Byrge Sørensen of The Act of Killing and Ingvil Giske, producer on The Remarkable Life of Ibelin.

Newer voices stand out as well. Faroese director Maria Tórgarð, the 2025 Nordic Talents Pitch Prize winner, presents Knots at the Forum, while Ömer Sami, whose Eternal Father earned a 2023 Oscar shortlist spot, brings True Scott to Work In Progress.

Several Work In Progress titles carry earlier pitches toward completion. Myllylä, about the Finnish skier of the same name, first appeared at the Forum in 2025. Palestinian director Mohammed Fares Al Majdalawi’s Out of Place, pitched originally in 2021, is among the six projects now seeking a final push.

Forty six projects make up the Forum Pitch and Observer+ selection, with six more in Work In Progress. Forum Manager Lena Nitsch described this year’s slate as ranging from intimate personal stories to sharper investigative work engaging with questions beyond the Nordic region itself.

The Forum runs 20 to 22 September in Malmö, with the Market extending from 18 to 22 September in the same city.
