The 34th edition of Nordisk Panorama, scheduled from 21 to 26 September, 2023, promises a captivating line-up of events that enthusiasts won’t want to miss.
The festival, which has reached its 10th consecutive year, is set to be celebrated in style following the announcement of its official competitions films. One of the standout events is the Turning Torso Séance & Performance, held atop the magnificent Turning Torso building, the tallest in Scandinavia. Attendees will be treated to a unique audio-visual experience on the 54th floor, 190 meters above ground, where artists Johan Tingne and Johan Frick aim to conjure the gods «Lucifox» and «Mousifer.»
On Sunday, 24 September, the festival offers a Masterclass with Sari Volanen, a commissioning editor at Yle (Finnish Broadcasting company). This masterclass will delve into trends and tendencies spanning the last five decades in the short film community, providing valuable insights into the evolution of commissioners’ preferences.
An essential highlight is the Town Hall session titled «Who Needs Original Thinking?» Also taking place on 24 Setpember, this open dialogue engages participants in thought-provoking discussions about the relevance of originality in a world driven by AI technologies.
Film enthusiasts with a love for both cinema and football can enjoy the premiere of The Home Game on 23 September, followed by a football match that brings together industry professionals, stars, and crew members involved in the making of the film.
The festival’s closing night, 26 September, promises an energetic and culturally rich extravaganza – the Nordic Dance-Off. This event invites attendees to showcase their Nordic dance moves, emphasising unity and creativity across cultures.
Nordisk Panorama also offers engaging opportunities to interact with filmmakers, such as the Filmarträff with Mia Engberg, where guests can join the filmmaker for an intimate chat before the screening of her latest film, Hypermoon.
Furthermore, attendees with a penchant for concise storytelling can explore «30 Seconds to the Top,» where selected projects and decision-makers partake in rapid elevator pitches, reflecting the dynamic nature of contemporary filmmaking.
