Renowned Haitian filmmaker #Raoul Peck# has been named Guest of Honour for the 56th edition of Visions du Réel, taking place from 4 to 13 April, 2025. The festival will feature a retrospective of his non-fiction work, a screening of his latest film Ernest Cole: Lost and Found ahead of its Swiss theatrical release, and a masterclass by the director.

Peck, whose I Am Not Your Negro was Oscar-nominated in 2017, is celebrated for his incisive critiques of Eurocentric historical narratives and his politically charged storytelling. His films spotlight key figures of emancipation, such as #Patrice Lumumba#, #James Baldwin#, and #Ernest Cole#, blending genres and formats to craft compelling activist cinema. The festival will also showcase Peck’s acclaimed HBO series Exterminate All The Brutes, a hybrid exploration of European #colonialism, which earned a #Peabody Award# in 2022.

Born in #Haiti in 1953 and raised across Congo, New York, France, and Germany, Peck’s global perspective informs his body of work. A former Haitian Minister of Culture, he has received numerous accolades, including the Irene Diamond Lifetime Achievement Award and the Outstanding Achievement Award from Hot Docs.
