SDI announces return of in-person «Phenomenal Women» series through September

    The Scottish Documentary Institute (SDI) has announced its special programme of acclaimed documentaries directed by women. Tackling issues of mental health and politics through a personal lens and a female gaze, the «Phenomenal Women» series screens take place across 10/11 and 17/18 September. The screenings will occur simultaneously in Inverness and Edinburgh, as well as be streamed online (19-21). All screenings will be available to pre-book online on a sliding scale basis £2-£8, with free tickets available during the screening dates at the venue.

    • September 10: Self Portrait (dir. Katja Høgset, Espen Wallin, Margreth Olin)
    • September 11: Beyond My Grandfather (dir. Marcia Tambutti Allende)
    • September 17: All About My Sisters (dir. Wang Qiong)
    • September 18: Island of the Hungry Ghosts (dir Gabrielle Brady)*

    *Including panel discussion with special guests who will be bringing their own perspectives on mental health and politics, filmmaking, activism, ethics, and the specific set of challenges that women making documentaries face in the industry and beyond.
