Held from 12 to 19 August 2022, the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival will host a special #Sergei Loznitsa# retrospective. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the art of film, Loznitsa’s work will be presented as part of the Tribute To programme. Loznitsa will also be presented with the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award at the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival Opening Ceremony.

Sergei Loznitsa has been making films since 1996, and has directed 25 award-winning documentaries and four fiction films recieving accolades around the world. Previous recipients of both the Heart of Sarajevo Award and Tribute To programme i9nclude Wim Wenders, Michel Franco, Paweł Pawlikowski, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Oliver Stone, and Béla Tarr.

The Sergei Loznitsa Tribute To programme includes feature films (My Joy, In the Fog, Donbass), documentaries (Maidan, Babi Yar. Context), and short films (Portrait, Reflections, Director’s Cut, Night at the Opera)
