The Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival (AJB DOC) has officially opened submissions for its 8th edition, set to take place in Sarajevo from 12 to 16 September 2025. Filmmakers and production companies from around the world are invited to submit their works by 27 May 2025, via the festival’s website or Film Freeway.

Organised by Al Jazeera Balkans, in collaboration with **Al Jazeera Media Network, Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, and Al Jazeera Media Institute, the festival showcases documentaries that highlight universal social values and compelling human stories.

The competition is open to TV documentary formats ranging from 22 to 52 minutes in length. Selected films will compete across four categories, including the Competition Selection and three Out-of-competition strands: Last Minute Cinema, AJB Screening, and SmartDoc.

Awards will be presented for Best Film (AJB DOC Main Award), the Programme Department Jury Award, and the Audience Award. Additionally, all selected films may be considered for acquisition and broadcast on Al Jazeera Balkans.
