Doclisboa announces opening and closing sessions for 20th edition

In October, Doclisboa celebrates 20 years and presents a special edition with the opening and closing sessions held simultaneously in the cities of Lisbon (opening at Cinema São Jorge and closing at Culturgest) and Porto (Cinema Trindade).

The opening session will take place on 6 October, 2022 with the Portuguese premiere of North Terminal (dir. Lucrecia Martel). The acclaimed filmmaker returns to documentary with a short film made during the pandemic, following the singer Julieta Laso in her various encounters with an extraordinary group of Argentine artists in the Salta region. The opening session also includes a musical act, starring the Portuguese composer and singer Lula Pena at Lisbon’s Cinema São Jorge.

The closing session will occur on 15 October and screen Love Lights (dir. Acácio de Almeida, Marie Carré), a declaration of love for photography and cinema. Acácio de Almeida, one of the most important Portuguese directors of photography, makes his debut in filmmaking, offering us a distinctive look at the role of light in his work and cinema.
