Docsbarcelona Online-2020-programme-featured

The 23rd edition of DocsBarcelona is almost upon us and is – like so many other events – evolved due to Covid-19. With this, the event has moved online from May 19 – 31 May 2020.

Through the digital platform Filmin (for viewers based in Spain), DocsBarcelona will feature 35 documentaries. 13 of these films will compete for the DocsBarcelona Best Documentary Award in the Official Panorama Section: amongst them Vivos, Forman vs. Forman, Overseas, and Hi, AI.

55% of the DocsBarcelona programme is led by female filmmakers, which films like That Which Does Not Kill, Advocate, The Magic Life of V, Arid Zone, and Salka featured.

Aside from the featured films, DocsBarcelona Online will also feature a series of conferences and round tables aimed at professionals from around the world, yet open to everyone. These include a meeting with renowned Danish editor Niels Pagh Andersen. Further topics of discussion will be: The impact of Covid-19 on the Spanish audiovisual industry and its film festivals, Unconscious prejudices in documentary creation, and Beyond the director’s gaze.
