Geneva’s #FIFDH Impact Days has once again set new benchmarks for global collaboration in social justice and environmental storytelling. The latest edition welcomed over 200 impact participants from 30 countries, facilitating 115 one-to-one meetings and hosting a packed pitching session that provided vital exposure to 12 selected impact projects.
A diverse array of organisations, including DocSociety (UK), Aflamuna (Lebanon), and Documentary Africa (Kenya), joined forces with impact distributors like Together Films and streaming platforms such as WaterBear. This year also marked the launch of the Swiss Focus event, fostering dialogue among Swiss filmmakers, international guests, and impact stakeholders.
Significant support came from institutions such as the City of Geneva, Fondation Leenaards, the Rosa Luxembourg Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Swiss Federal Office for Culture via Media Desk Suisse, among others.
The FIFDH Impact Days 2025 award winners
From 196 submissions spanning 77 countries, 12 projects were selected for the annual Impact Lab. These teams worked closely with tutors from across the world to refine their impact strategies before pitching in Geneva. The following projects were awarded for their outstanding contributions:
The StoryBoard Impact Award (10,000 CHF):
Children of Honey – Co-directed by Jigar Ganatra, produced by Natalie Humphreys, and impact-produced by Simona Nickmanova, this film follows three young #Hadza friends at a turning point as their hunter-gatherer community faces modern pressures and land loss.
The Sublimages Impact Award:
Traces – Co-directed by #Alisa Kovalenko# and produced by Natalia Libet, this powerful documentary amplifies the voices of six Ukrainian women who have endured sexual violence and #torture during Russian aggression. The award includes 2,500 € worth of translation and subtitling services.
The Swiss Focus Impact Award (2,500 CHF):
Nathalie – Directed by Tamara Milosevic and impact-produced by Emily Hopf, the film portrays the struggles of a single mother and domestic worker navigating #poverty in Switzerland.
