With December’s masterclass, the launch of an exclusive residency and masterclass series in Sitges, Spain, and a conscious filmmaking retreat in India, these initiatives focuses on providing filmmakers, producers, and distributors with proper self-care and advanced skills in the global documentary world.
Masterclass on Global Distribution and Impactful Filmmakin
This masterclass combines lessons in global film distribution and creating socially impactful cinema on 14 December (16:00 CET). Participants will delve into the roles and strategies of sales agents and distributors, crucial for navigating the international film market. The masterclass also covers self-distribution, international sales options, and key aspects of licensing agreements. Additionally, filmmakers will learn how to create films that resonate with audiences and drive social change, including developing impact strategies and audience engagement techniques.
Filmmakers and Writers Residence, Sitges, Spain
From 10 December – 12 January, this 5-week residency is located 100 meters from the Mediterranean Sea in Sitges. The setting provides a tranquil environment for participants to focus on creativity and connect with fellow professionals in the field. The residency aims to foster an atmosphere conducive to inspiration and rejuvenation, essential for creative endeavours.
Cinematic Journey and Creative Retreat in Auroville, India
From 3 – 7, January 2024, aspects of conscious filmmaking will be explored in Auroville, India, in collaboration with the Auroville Film Institute (AVFI). This includes identifying the core message of a story, character development, and crafting pitches that resonate with specific audiences. The curriculum also covers engagement strategies, measuring the impact of films, and navigating various distribution channels such as film festivals, online platforms, and community screenings.
Acknowledging the intensity of the filmmaking process, the retreat also emphasises the importance of self-care for sustainable creativity. This aspect underlines the belief that a filmmaker’s well-being is integral to the production of meaningful and impactful cinema.
