The Agora of the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (TiDF) has set a new partnership and a fresh award that promises to uplift documentary filmmakers. From March 7-17, 2024, the festival’s 26th edition will be enriched by the collaboration with the IEFTA Foundation, introducing a €10,000 Best Doc in Development Award.
The new award will be presented by a jury to one of the projects in the Thessaloniki Pitching Forum, Agora’s co-producing and financing arm. The Forum, seeking entries until January 5, 2024, invites an array of documentaries, including series and those aimed at children, to be pitched before a panel of experts.
The Agora’s commitment to fostering talent doesn’t stop there. It also offers the Agora Docs in Progress for documentaries seeking distribution or completion funds, with a deadline of January 12, 2024. Past participants of this segment include notable works like And, Toward Happy Alleys and We Will Not Fade Away.
Further enriching the festival’s offerings are a slew of awards, such as the ERT Award, the DAE Award, and recognition from institutions like Beldocs and DOK Leipzig. Additionally, Agora presents Agora Lab and Meet the Future, initiatives designed to cultivate the skills of young filmmakers.
This rich tapestry of opportunities is available to filmmakers from a diverse group of countries, underlining the festival’s international appeal and its commitment to promoting Greek cinema on the global stage.
