For its 2021 festival, One World Romania will present a retrospective on German filmmaker #Ulrike Ottinger#. The programme will present eight films made between the 1970s and 2010, as well as her latest, the autobiographical Paris Calligrammes.
Meshing with the festival’s 2021 theme of feminism and femininity, Ottinger’s intimate, observational style has resulted in a filmography filled with extremely complex and varied female figures. The retrospective itself covers the gamut of Ottinger’s output including fiction films, shorts, travel documentaries, and her own autobiography. From her home country of #France to her adopted home of #Germany to #Japan, #Siberia, and #Eastern Europe#, Ottinger has observed all of them, each presented at the retrospective in some way.

The 14th edition of One World Romania will take place physically, in Bucharest, between May 21 and 30 and online nationwide, between May 31 and June 6.
