DokuFest has announced a dynamic selection of films for its acclaimed «View From the World» strand, showcasing some of the year’s most compelling and politically engaged nonfiction work.

Among the ten selected films are notable titles such as No Other Land, Soundtrack to a Coup D’Etat, and Direct Action, all of which highlight pressing political issues. The lineup also includes two Cannes Film Festival world premieres: Lula, directed by Oliver Stone, which delves into the life of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and The Falling Sky by Eryk Rocha and Gabriela Carneiro da Cunha, a poignant exploration of Brazil’s Indigenous Watorikɨ community.

Further enriching the selection is Sylvain George’s Obscure Night – Goodbye Here, Anywhere, a striking black-and-white film about African migrants in the Spanish enclave of Melilla, accompanied by a master class from George himself.

Other highlights include Hollywoodgate, which examines the Taliban’s evolution post-US withdrawal from Afghanistan, Copa 71, a documentary on a little-known Women’s World Cup, and Life and Other Problems by Max Kestner, a philosophical exploration of existential questions. The lineup concludes with I’m Not Everything I Want To Be by Klára Tasovská, a poetic tribute to Czech photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková.
