Porto/Post/Doc has announced the complete lineup for its 2025 edition, running 20–29 November across venues in Porto. The festival will screen 135 films under this year’s theme, «The Time of A Journey,» which frames a programme spanning documentary, fiction, hybrid, experimental and animation works.

The International Competition gathers eight feature-length titles that probe social, political and human subjects across multiple regions. Selections include works set in Jerusalem, Mexico, the United States, Fiume/Rijeka, Ukraine, Galicia, the U.S. housing landscape and rural Russia, reflecting a spectrum of contemporary concerns and storytelling approaches.

A new International Medium and Short Film Competition debuts this year with five curated programmes. The strand highlights emerging voices and essayistic forms, with films engaging historical memory, identity, trauma and resistance while moving between archival, documentary, fictional and animated modes.

Music and culture remain a focus in the Transmission section, which surveys global scenes from Tokyo «listening cafés» and Dominican dembow to Rotterdam’s rave history and Lisbon’s south-bank hip-hop. Profiles range from flamenco guitarist Yerai Cortès to cult figures such as Madonna, the Butthole Surfers, Orlando Pantera and The Residents. Michael Ogden’s Becoming Madonna opens the strand.

Local production and new talent are foregrounded in the Cinema Novo Competition, featuring 11 shorts by young filmmakers and students. In parallel, the Working Class Heroes initiative presents filmmaker spotlights and project development by Elena López Riera, Pedro Neves and #Vlad Petri#, supported by Filmaporto – film commission and #CaixaForumPlus of the «la Caixa» Foundation.

The festival expands its immersive offering at the Porto Planetarium with eight fulldome works that intersect art and science, addressing topics from dark matter to imagined worlds.

Special Screenings present recent and premiere titles on displacement, identity and resistance. Highlights include the world premiere of Cabo do Mundo—developed through the 2023 Working Class Heroes programme—alongside Bulakna, The Town That Drove Away, Little Syria, Yanuni and Nova ’78, the latter revisiting the 1978 Nova Convention with newly unearthed footage.

Previously announced focal points include retrospectives and spotlights on filmmakers #Andrei Ujică# and #Lina Soualem#, thematic selections for «The Time of A Journey» and «Cinemateca Ideal dos Subúrbios do Mundo,» and a Cinema Falado Competition.
