The fifth edition of the #MajorDocs concluded in Mallorca, recognizing documentaries Al Djanat directed by Chloé Aïcha Boro and Apolonia, Apolonia by Lea Glob with top honours. The festival attracted an audience of over 2,000 people, with an additional hundred attendees at the closing gala.

The jury, comprising #Avi Mograbi#, #Sylvie Gadamer#, and #Zeynep Güzel#, lauded Al Djanat for its courageous and sincere exploration of a world where religion, tradition, and modernity intersect. Director Chloé Aïcha Boro received a cash prize of €1,500 for her work. Sofia Brockenshire’s documentary The Dependents was also highlighted with a special mention for its unique take on the themes of exile and #migration, offering audiences a journey through resonant memories.

Meanwhile, the festival’s audience voted Apolonia, Apolonia as the best film, spotlighting young artist Apolonia as a key figure in contemporary art.

The festival included several new venues this year and expanded its educational programs. MajorDocs EDUCA sessions saw the participation of 864 students from 12 educational centers in the Balearic Islands. Over 70 national and international professionals and more than 450 attendees enriched the event’s diverse sessions. The festival also included MajorDocs PITCH meetings, where Nicolás Baksht’s The Tree of the Broken Shadow was awarded a €1,500 prize, and Alberto Gemmi’s Il tempio della Memoria received special acknowledgment.
