Bozcaada International Festival of Ecological Documentary (BIFED) returns for 11th edition

The 11th edition of the Bozcaada International Festival of Ecological Documentary (BIFED) will take place from 9 to 13 October, 2024, on the island of Bozcaada, Türkiye. As the country’s only festival exclusively dedicated to ecological documentaries, BIFED has been a platform for raising awareness about environmental and climate issues since 2014.

The festival brings together an array of participants, including filmmakers, environmental advocates, NGOs, and local communities, both from Türkiye and around the world. This year, BIFED will showcase over thirty films chosen from over 700 submissions, focusing on themes such as the climate crisis, poverty, and colonial legacies.

In addition to film screenings, the event will feature discussions, panels, and meetings centred on ecological concerns. Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with directors during Q&A sessions. The films will be evaluated by an international jury, with awards presented in various categories, including the prestigious BIFED Grand Award and the newly introduced İdil Schneider Award for music and sound design.
